How to use this calculator
- Write down the coordinates of both endpoints.
- Average the x-coordinates and the y-coordinates separately.
- Combine the two averages into the midpoint coordinate pair.

A little understanding goes a long way.
The midpoint divides a straight line segment into two equal lengths. Coordinate averaging works in any number of dimensions. Negative coordinates are valid.

A worked example
The midpoint between (2, 4) and (8, 10) is ((2 + 8)/2, (4 + 10)/2) = (5, 7).

A few common questions
Can a midpoint have decimals?
Yes. Integer endpoints can have fractional or decimal midpoint coordinates.
Does the order of the points matter?
No. Reversing the endpoints leaves the midpoint unchanged.
