A little understanding goes a long way.
A cubic foot is the volume of a cube measuring one foot on each edge. Convert all dimensions to a common unit before multiplying. There are exactly 1,728 cubic inches and 27 cubic feet per cubic yard.

A worked example
A box measuring 4 ft × 3 ft × 2 ft holds 24 ft³. Two identical boxes total 48 ft³, or approximately 1.777778 yd³.

A few common questions
Can I mix feet and inches?
Yes. Every dimension has its own unit selector. For 5 feet 6 inches, enter 5.5 feet or 66 inches.
Is this suitable for cylinders?
This tool calculates rectangular volumes. For a cylinder, use π × radius² × height rather than length × width × height.
Can volume tell me the weight?
Not on its own. Weight also depends on material density. Shipping charges can use a carrier-specific dimensional-weight rule.
